Joe Flint

A burly, barrel-chested man, Joe Flint is an imposing physical presence. He maintains a military high-and-tight, is clean-shaven, and has brown eyes. Notable is his face, as he has a prominent nose and jaw that resembles John Wayne. His ring attire consists of camo fatigue pants and black combat boots, as well as taped hands and a single black elbow pad, with the punisher skull colored in the American flag colors on it.

Joe Flint is a former Marine, who served in Afghanistan and Iraq. He was a star wrestler in high school and in the Marine Corps, and was nicknamed "The Duke" because of his passing resemblance to John Wayne.

That resemblance served him well, when he was honorably discharged in 2007 as a Captain after his third tour of duty. The 30-year old showed interest in professional wrestling, of which he had always been a fan. The Marine Corps sponsored his training, seeing Flint as an ideal recruitment tool; they sent him to Hamilton Graham's training camp. Graham saw great potential in Flint despite his age, and by early 2009 Joe Flint was in action. He has wrestled across the north and midwest, and is now here in the AWA to promote patriotism and American pride.

Joe Flint knows that many people have lost faith in the country because of the shenangains in Washington and the endless stream of uncaring polticians. He really did want to show the world what America was truly all about, in a positive way.

However, while the AWA was over in Europe, things started to change. He had been stuck in a bitter lawsuit with former friends of his in his wrestling career. He had been a part of the Soldiers of Fortune, but eventually split off from them. He was taken to court for ownership of his own name, as the other members claimed to own the trademark. However, Flint countersued, because he felt that he owned the name "Soldiers of Fortune". The courts ruled in favor of him, he got to keep the name and was able to take full ownership of the "Soldiers of Fortune" name. The lawsuit took a lot out of him, and he started to see things in this country that he had never hoped to see. Because of the lawsuit, he felt that he was going about things the wrong way. The American values he tried to show the world as a member of American Pride didn't get him very far in the AWA, so he started thinking that 'my-country-right-or-wrong' patriotism was the right way to go. He no longer wants the American people to remember the values that made the country great, as he now feels that the current, tense political climate and the "my way or the highway" way of thinking is what's going to make the country great again.

CHARLIE STEPHENS

The Pledge of Allegience (formerly known as the Liberty Clutch) — The Cobra Clutch. The twist that Flint puts on the hold is that once applied, he tries to take his man down with it, going into Crossface positon and cranking back. Should he succeed in doing this, it is over (see: Kurt Angle scissoring the leg with the anklelock; you know it's over when he does that). That takedown is not a necessary part of the hold, though... a normal Cobra Clutch will suffice.

ATOMIC NOOGIE~! — Could be considered a second finisher if he really wants to humilate the opponent. He forces the opponent to sit up in the middle of the ring, and balls his right hand into a fist. He then drives the fist into the opponent's temple and grinds his knuckles into the temple. After a couple of seconds, he'll either let go of the opponent, or raise his fist in the air again, and do the noogie a second time. Whenever he releases the noogie is up to him, or whenever the opponent submits as getting punched in the temple hurts, a lot.

Temper. This is a disadvantage for many, but not for Flint. If you make him angry, he does not become careless or reckless; he becomes John Rambo. He is incredibly dangerous when angered.Three Weaknesses:

Pride. The Captain is easily baited, because his pride in his country has made him blind to the fact that he is NOT his country. Unfortunately, his pride in his country has been warped. He will never refuse a challenge, and so can be suckered. He will (almost) never submit, and so can be injured. He will never allow an insult to go unchallenged, and so will stretch himself thin. He will overextend himself in matches trying to do too much, because he feels that he must be an exemplar for the USA, whether the USA wants him to be one or not.

Heel Sgt. Slaughter

[A loud crackling noise is heard, slowly fading into a piercing buzz, as a distorted voice is heard shouting out partial lyrics to "My Country 'Tis of Thee"]

# Land where my fathers died!
# Land of the pilgrim's pride!
# From every mountain side,
# Let freedom ring!

[The 'ring' starts echoing, and it starts resembling an actual ringing sound. Suddenly, the ringing sound fades perfectly into the opening guitar riff by Ted Nugent of the Damn Yankees, as "Don't Tread on Me" by the early 90s super group Nugent played guitar for starts playing over the PA to a loud chorus of boos.]

MC: About to come down the aisle... from Parris Island, South Carolina... weighing two-hundred eighty-one pounds...

...he is a member of the Soldiers of Fortune...

..."CAPTAIN" JOE FLINT!

[The boos continue as "Captain" Joe Flint steps out to soak up the negative reaction. Flint is a big, burly fellow. His barrel-chested physique isn't a picture of rock-solid conditioning, but it is a battle-scarred picture of toughness and raw power. The "Captain" keeps his hair in a military high-and-tight, and his prominent jaw and nose are the primary features of a face that strongly resembles a famous American actor of long ago... which is the reason many call him "The Duke". He wears camo fatigue pants and black combat boots, his hands are taped up, and he sports a single elbow pad on his left arm. The elbow pad is black, with the Soldiers of Fortune American-Flag colored Punisher skull logo on it.]

[Flint simply marches down to the ringside area, a grin on his face as he's simply feeding off the boos. He's likely taking the boos as a frustration with the direction of the country, instead of actual boos towards him. There are certainly sympathizers in the crowd, but they are drowned out by the chorus of boos. There are no small American flags to be handed out to the children anymore, instead, Flint looks towards the ring, ready for a fight.]

[Finally, the former (don't dare call him "ex-") Marine climbs the ring steps and enters the ring. He looks out over the crowd, and lets out a laugh before stretching against the ropes. "Don't Tread on Me" dies out, but the boos keep going as Flint goes to the ropes, cupping his ear and encouraging the negative reaction from the crowd.]
