Biography & Background
Kelly Woods grew up in the Bronx in New York City and became involved with a boxing club at the age of 11. She competed in girls boxing for six years but found that opponents were somewhat limited. But as she grew up, she became a fan of professional wrestling, particularly of the UWF, given its strong women's wrestling division.
At the age of 18, Woods didn't really have an interest in college and decided to give it a go on the women's boxing circuit. Again, her opponents were limited and she wondered if it might be time to try something else. That's when she learned about the Lone Star Women's Wrestling Academy in El Paso, Texas, headed by Stephanie Harper.
Having been a fan of Harper's, Woods made her way to El Paso and spent her time learning from the UWF legend and Hall of Famer. Harper thought so much of her ability that she gave Woods a taste of the big time, having her enter the Angels and Amazons rumble match to round out a field of 30 competitors.
Though Woods found it a rough go, she was determined to stay with it and continued to learn under Harper, plus getting a taste of the independent scene in Texas. Angels and Amazons organizers then invited her to come back to another event -- once again, it was a rough go, but Woods appreciated the experience.
Still, opportunities were tough to come by on the women's scene and Woods found herself still working the independents in Texas. But then she heard that Shane Destiny and Michelle Bailey were bringing back P*WIN. Harper encouraged her to go and that's where Woods came into her own as a wrestler.
Woods spent about a year in P*WIN and that experience led to AWA talent scouts looking at the field. They liked what they saw in the former boxer turned pro wrestler and offered her a tryout. Woods agreed but on one condition -- that she would be allowed to debut in the Rumble match at Memorial Day Mayhem, just as she got her first big exposure in such a match.
After having a better run this time around, Woods is now headed to Showtime to further hone her craft. The former boxer brings enthusiasm but a no-nonsense attitude and a love for brawling. Time will tell how far Woods goes now that she's part of AWA.

Entrance & Presentation
["You're Going Down" by Sick Puppies starts up over the PA system. Up on the video wall, you see a quick succession of black-and-white camera shots, the camera panning over somebody's eyes, then taped-up fists, mixed in with a silhouette of somebody in a boxer's pose. This continues as the guitar picks up, and when the drums and lyrics kick in, the video wall flickers and you see one word.
