AJ Martinez

Tall, handsome and muscular. AJ Martinez looks like the Latin Jason Momoa. He has long black hair that he normally keeps in a tight manbun that invariably comes loose during the match. At which point he must occasionally move it out of his face or tousle it in taunting fashion to his (clearly) less attractive opponent.

To the ring, “Junior” wears a pair of mirrored sunglasses and wears a black leather vest over his bare chest. The vest is buttoned around his waist, but open at the top, to show off his impressive pecs. On the back of the vest is a black and red samurai oni design (like this - https://ih1.redbubble.net/image.1331607693.0586/raf,750x1000,075,t,FFFFFF:97ab1c12de.jpg ) with a stylized “KAMS” emblazoned below)

Both of Martinez’ hands are covered in fingerless black 5 ounce MMA style gloves, the backs of which have the same red samurai oni design and “KAMS” logo as his vest. There are black leather bands over the tops of his arms (under the shoulder and above the bicep) with silver “coins” embedded into the leather.

Martinez wears tight fitting long ring tights, black in color, with red flames going up each leg. The words “Hot Stuff’ are written across the backside. His black boots are made to resemble biker boots, with a thick “tread” on the bottom that he’ll use to leave a nice boot print on an opponent’s face.

The son of Alex Martinez (AJ is short for “Alex Junior”) and Veronica Westerly-Martinez-Temple (or whatever derivation she is going by these days), “Hot Stuff” AJ Martinez seemed to be destined for wrestling stardom. He’s taller, and arguably a better athlete than his younger brother Ryan.

And yet, it hasn’t happened yet.

AJ Martinez has had all the best. The best schooling. The best training and had every opportunity laid at his feet. He was accepted into the Combat Corner based on his name and look. He was given matches early in his training and offered a spot in Team Supreme along with forming a tag team with fellow wrestling scion Matt Lance (nee Lynch).

But it never quite panned out.

Because everything either was given to him or came too easily, AJ Martinez never really learned to apply himself. Its meant that he’s become the proverbial “has a lot of potential, but hasn’t lived up to it yet” wrestler. Unlike his older brother, who always had a strong work ethic, AJ Martinez has been very content to just get by.

But a few months ago, something happened.

TPP officials, who accepted AJ as a favor to both his father and the AWA front office, paired him with Cain Jackson and made them into the Kabukicho Assassination Maniac Squadron (KAMS for short), and something happened.

Things began to click.

Inspired by Jackson’s killer instinct, AJ Martinez began to transform. He’s still cocky and way too concerned with his looks, but the Martinez is starting to show. AJ is starting to figure some things out, and starting to apply himself.

And if he ever manages to put it all together? Well, just look at what other men named Martinez have done in pro wrestling.
